Why choose Osteoscore’s REMS scan?

Welcome to Osteoscore, where we bring you the latest in bone health evaluation without the risks of radiation.

We use Radiofrequency Echographic Multi Spectrometry (REMS) – an innovative ultrasound-based technology – to measure your bone density and assess fracture risk.

Unlike traditional DEXA scans that rely on X-rays, REMS is completely radiation-free, making it safe for all ages and ideal for frequent monitoring.

Our mission is to empower you with accurate, immediate insights into your bone health in a comfortable, patient-friendly setting.

Why choose Osteoscore’s REMS scan? Here are a few quick benefits of REMS over a standard DEXA scan:

  • Radiation-Free: REMS uses no X-rays at all, so you aren’t exposed to any radiation during the test. This makes it safer for frequent scans and for people who should avoid radiation (like children, pregnant women, or cancer survivors).

  • Fast & Comfortable: The REMS ultrasound scan is quick and painless, typically completed in just a few minutes. There’s no need to lie inside a confining machine – you can be comfortably seated during the scan.

  • Accurate & Reliable: REMS has been clinically validated to measure bone density with precision comparable to DEXA. You can trust that the results are on par with the medical gold standard for bone density testing.

  • Immediate Results: You receive your results right away, immediately after the scan, so there’s no anxious waiting period. Our specialists will review your personalized report with you on the spot.

Take charge of your bone health today. Whether you’re concerned about osteoporosis, or simply proactive about staying strong, Osteoscore is here to help. Book your REMS scan now and step confidently toward a future of healthier bones.

How It Works

At Osteoscore, we believe in making advanced bone health assessment simple. Here’s how the REMS scanning process works, step by step:

STEP 1

Scheduling Your Appointment

Getting started is easy. You can call or book online – no doctor’s referral needed. We offer flexible appointment times to fit your schedule. Our team will answer any initial questions and let you know if any simple prep is needed (for example, wearing loose clothing).

STEP 2

Preparation

Very little preparation is required for a REMS scan – one of its many conveniences. You can eat and drink normally beforehand, though we recommend avoiding a very large meal right before your scan to ensure optimal ultrasound imaging. It’s a good idea to wear loose, comfortable clothing so that your lower back and hip area can be easily accessed for the scan. If you need to, use the restroom beforehand for maximum comfort during the test. Other than that, no special preparation (like fasting or medication changes) is necessary.

STEP 3

The REMS Scan Procedure

When you arrive, our friendly technician will explain the process and help you get comfortable. You will sit or lie down in a relaxed position – there’s no enclosing tunnel or noisy machine. The technician applies a bit of warm ultrasound gel to the target areas (usually your lower spine and hip). Using a handheld ultrasound probe, they will scan your lumbar spine and one hip (femoral neck) – the same key areas measured by a DEXA scan. You won’t feel any pain; you might just sense light pressure as the probe rests on your skin. Each site takes only a minute or two to capture data. In fact, a REMS scan is very quick – about 80 seconds for the spine and 40 seconds for the femur on average. Throughout the procedure, you can breathe normally and relax. There’s no ionizing radiation being emitted, so you don’t need to wear any protective gear.

STEP 4

Real-Time Analysis & Results

As soon as the scan is done, the REMS device’s software immediately analyzes the ultrasound data using advanced algorithms. It compares your bone’s unique echo “signature” to a large reference database to calculate your Bone Mineral Density (BMD). It also computes your T-score and Z-score (standard measures to diagnose osteoporosis or osteopenia) and even provides a special Fragility Score that reflects your bone quality and 5-year fracture risk. The entire analysis happens within moments. A detailed medical report is generated on the spot, including your BMD values, T-score, Z-score, and an assessment of bone quality. One of our healthcare professionals will review the results with you immediately. They’ll explain what the numbers mean in clear, simple terms, answer your questions, and if needed, discuss any recommended next steps (for example, follow-up with your doctor, lifestyle adjustments, or treatments to improve your bone health). You’ll also receive a copy of your report to take home.

That’s it! The whole visit is typically completed in about 20–30 minutes, start to finish. You walk away with actionable knowledge about your bone health – and peace of mind. If you’ve ever had a bone density test before, you’ll be amazed at how quick and convenient the REMS experience is by comparison.

Benefits

Why Choose REMS?

The Advantages at a Glance: REMS technology offers clear advantages over traditional DEXA (Dual-energy X-ray Absorptiometry) scans for bone density. Here’s why our radiation-free REMS scan is an excellent choice for patients who want the best in bone health assessment:

Radiation-Free & Safe

REMS uses ultrasound rather than X-rays, so there is zero radiation exposure during the test. This means it’s completely safe for all patients – including seniors, children, women who are pregnant or breastfeeding, and others who should avoid radiation. You can undergo REMS scans as often as needed with no cumulative risk. In contrast, DEXA involves low-dose X-rays, which limit how frequently you should be tested. With REMS, bone health monitoring can be done more proactively and frequently to catch issues early, without worrying about radiation.

Comprehensive Bone Assessment

A key benefit of REMS is that it doesn’t just measure bone density – it also evaluates bone quality. REMS analysis includes a proprietary Fragility Score that reflects the structural integrity of your bone, something DEXA does not directly measure. By combining density and quality information, REMS provides a more complete picture of your bone strength. This means we can better estimate your actual fracture risk. In fact, incorporating bone quality helps explain why some people with moderately low density never fracture, while others with only slightly low density might – quality matters! The REMS Fragility Score, alongside other clinical factors, helps predict fracture risk more accurately than bone density alone. You’ll get a personalized 5-year fracture risk estimation as part of your report. This comprehensive insight allows for more tailored and effective bone health plans.

Real-Time Results

With REMS, you don’t have to wait days for a radiologist to generate a report. The results are produced immediately during your visit, thanks to automated analysis software. You will review your results with our specialist right after the scan. This immediate feedback is not only convenient but can reduce the anxiety of waiting. You’ll know on the same day whether your bones are in a healthy range or if any action is needed. Prompt results = prompt peace of mind (or timely intervention).

Clinically Proven Accuracy

REMS has undergone extensive clinical testing and is proven to be highly accurate and reliable. Studies show a strong diagnostic agreement between REMS and DEXA – meaning REMS results correlate closely with DEXA results. In terms of measuring bone mineral density, REMS’s precision and repeatability have been found not inferior to DEXA’s. In other words, REMS matches the gold standard for accuracy. You can trust that a REMS scan will correctly identify osteoporosis or low bone density if present. In fact, REMS can sometimes detect issues that DEXA might miss; for example, if a DEXA image is obscured by arthritis changes or calcifications in the spine, REMS’s advanced analysis can avoid such artifacts and still provide an accurate reading. When you choose Osteoscore, you’re choosing a science-backed method of bone assessment that doctors and researchers around the world have validated.

Comfort & Convenience

REMS scanning is designed with patient comfort in mind. The device is compact and portable, and the scan is done with you in a comfortable position without any confining equipment. Claustrophobic or uncomfortable scanner experiences are a thing of the past. In fact, the REMS device can even be brought to a patient’s bedside or done while you remain seated, if lying on an exam table is difficult. This makes it ideal for individuals with limited mobility, such as older patients who might have trouble climbing onto a traditional DEXA machine or those in wheelchairs – we can accommodate you easily. The procedure is completely non-invasive and painless – no injections, no needles, and no lingering soreness. Just a bit of ultrasound gel and gentle pressure from the probe. The speed of the scan (just a few minutes) also means less hassle and no need to take a long time out of your day. Overall, REMS offers a more patient-friendly experience from start to finish.

In summary, Osteoscore’s REMS scan offers the precision of hospital-grade bone density testing with greater safety, comfort, and insight. You get everything a DEXA scan provides – and more – without the downsides. By choosing REMS, you’re opting for the next generation of bone health assessment: one that is patient-centered and backed by cutting-edge medical technology.
